Crimson & Pole Parlour

  • Crimson began pole dancing in 2013 at Secret Pole Dance Studio in Culver City, California.
  • She fell in love with Pole and decided to start a blog and as well as sell t-shirts < which she loved.
  • After a little over a year of blogging, Crimson realized that there may be a better medium for her to share her thoughts.
  • She had a strong Social Media following and was able to easily connect with others.
  • Crimson landed on podcasting and produced an incredible show for 1.5 years.
  • You can still find all episodes of Pole Parlour, which I highly recommend checking out.

Developing the Studio

  • Crimson decided to open a studio and went to work figuring out all the things.
  • She sat down with a book she purchased off of Amazon and created her business plan.
  • She asked herself questions like – how much can I afford? How much is this going to cost? Who am I serving? Who will be my competitors?
  • She officially opened the studio in October of 2017. She had an opening party and then classes slowly started to build – but it did take time.

Being Creative in Business

  • You should be clear with your messaging – having a strong social media, strong mission statement on the front page of your website, with very clear class names and class descriptions.
  • The Minx + Muse mission statement says: Awaken your innate magick through dance, movement, and witchcraft.
  • Being creative in business is very advantageous.
  • Crimson looks for new ways to approach class offerings by including a full range of options.

Included in their classes are:
Serpentine Belly Fusion
Slink + Seduction
Bewitching Burlesque
Embodied Pleasure
Elemental Emotion
Somatic Alchemy
Minx + Muse Coven
Morning Mystics
Minx + Muse Moon Club
Esoerotic Floorcravt
Pole Virgins
Esoerotic Polecravt
Esoerotic Enchantment
XXXorcism
Freestyle Alchemy
House of Venus

  • Sometimes all a class needs to be successful is a name change or a time change. It can be that simple.
  • Trust your own intuition. If you have a class that isn’t working, let it go – or just the opposite. If you have a class you know will work, give it the time or attention to make it successful.

Keeping the space sacred

  • Due to COVID, Minx + Muse has become a virtual studio. We consider our classes to be ceremonies.
  • Each instructor takes the time to make sure we have an opening original closing ritual to every class.
  • People who are not signed-up are not allowed inside.
  • Video recording is also prohibited except for specified times.
  • All our virtual classes are filmed at the studio by the teachers themselves
  • We are working on the library as well, pre-recorded.
  • Every Friday and Saturday night, they have a workshop set-up either about sensuality, sorcery, sexuality, sensuality, or mysticism.

Quotes from Crimson Minx of Minx + Muse:

“I’m so grateful for the early pole studios and the early aerial studios. Because when they opened, they had to be everything to everyone because there were 10 people in town who were into it. You had to have, this was our lyrical class, this is our hip hop class, this is our sexy class, tricks class. And I think we’re so blessed to be in a time where you don’t have to do that anymore because enough people have heard of it. There’s enough interest in it that you really can niche down.”

“I tell people like, if you don’t have the energy to do a business plan, you don’t have the energy to run a business.”

“And that’s why branding is so important. Like, I try to make a really clear on our website, if you’re coming and you want to like, get your Fonji on and you want to get upside down and do all that. Like, there’s nothing that shows that in our social media, on our branding, on our website, or in our language, because it’s literally not something we offer.”

“And when you have, especially like a niche business, it’s going to be slow in the beginning. But you’re building a foundation and that’s how strong foundations are built when you’re building it with the right people.”

“I’d go back to Crimson three years ago and say, girl, you know what? It’s going to be a slow for a little bit and that’s okay. But you’re building a strong foundation. Stick with your guns, stick to your vision because you know, that’s integrity and that’s how you are going to keep the focus of your business.”
