Have you also been wanting to try the Coast Bike Share program in Downtown St. Pete? Us too and we FINALLY made the time to do it.
So these bikes are super easy to rent and there are plenty of stops around downtown. We downloaded an app, chose our bike sharing program and paid $8 for an hour of time. However, they have different plans with varying amounts of time and student discounts. You can then check-in/out a bike using your pin and account number. We found, by checking out their website ahead of time, a simple route that provided us with a ton to do and see. If you’d like to use the route we came up with, here’s the link. We chose to make a route that was short but full. This gave us an easy opportunity to try these bikes out. By having so many stops around town, we had the ability to drop the bikes off, walk around, grab a snack and pick the bikes back up.
We parked our car at the Sundial parking garage. Then stopped in front of Starbucks to pick up our bikes. After a very short ride, we checked in our bikes near City Hall and went to the Saturday Morning Market. There we saw ALL THE THINGS. This market takes place in the shady Williams Park during the months of June – August and moves back to its home in Al Lang Stadium Parking Lot October – May. This market sees up to 10,000 customers on their busiest weekends. They have live music, great food, and eclectic vendors from all over. They are currently the largest Fresh Market in the southeast. After chatting with a few of the local vendors, we cooled off in the shade before heading back to the bikes (because at 10 am it’s already like 100 degrees here).
Speaking of how hot it is outside… Hyppo! I mean, how could we not? If you haven’t been to Hyppo yet, let me tell you all about it. They make handcrafted popsicles using the freshest ingredients and they are seriously delicious. Phill always picks the best flavors and today was no different. He chose the delicious Banana Split and I opted for the refreshing Watermelon Mint.
We picked up the bikes and headed over to Lucky Dill for a quick lunch. This New York Style deli is a great place if you’re craving a sandwich piled high or a quick salad. Their onion rings are great too if you’re in the mood for something fried, because really… who isn’t? We split a turkey sammy and pasta salad since we had just finished our dessert. #eatdessertfirst
We completed our route back at Starbucks where we picked up our car and ended our awesome morning with plenty of time left on the bikes to do this again another day.
Have you used this program? Where’s your favorite stop?
