In this week’s episode, I interview NovaCaine who is a self-proclaimed Stripper (just ask her!). We talk about how she entered the Stripping world, building yourself as a character, appropriate behavior in clubs, and why it’s time this community comes together.
NovaCaine started stripping when she was 18 years old. She danced on and off and competed (winning as well!) over the years. NovaCaine is a veteran, a mother, a Stripper Advocate, and a pole dance instructor (currently at Apple Jelly Studios).
“In this life, I had to reboot a few times over.” – NovaCaine
Key Moments:
- 3:36 “And it set a tone where if she can see it like that then I can. And she’s seen the same things, you know, and even more. And for her to be so energetic and happy, I can do that.”
- 12:49 “So it hurt then and now it feels. So it’s okay.”
- 14:21 “And my first class, I always say that it was like I had chicken grease on my hands cause I could not hold onto the pole.”
- 15:59 “I put it on and danced and I recorded it because I wanted to see how ridiculous. And when I saw it, I saw a little bit of what I saw on TV in me.”
- 18:54 “That pain and to get rid of that pain, to get rid of scar tissue, to put your bones back together where they’re supposed to, to not make your muscles so inflamed. It is not easy.”
- 21:42 “It’s understanding that you have to think a certain way. You have to bring boundaries. You have to understand that you’re leaving the person who you are outside those doors, and then bringing a character in.”
- 24:30 “In this life, I had to reboot a few times over.”
- 25:02 “I asked my highest conscious, my guides, my ancestors, anybody out there who has my greatest benefit in mind. And I asked and manifested an answer, and the answer was, go ahead and do it. Yeah. You are meant to do this.”
- 28:52 “It’s about a sex worker, and it’s about a lady that’s smart and beautiful and just numbs his pain away and he can never find another NovaCaine.”
- 31:26 “Develop yourself in many different ways until it finally all clicks together and you just know.”
- 32:02 “They can’t get their picture taken. There’s so many strict rules for them because it would change their lives and not for the better.”
- 36:42 “We still have to get into that mood”
- 37:00 “Cause when you’re a stripper, you’re a stripper for yourself, but you’re a stripper for everybody else. And a lot of people don’t understand that. You have to understand what the customer wants because you are your business.”
- 56:22 “I’m not your cup of tea. I’m somebody else’s cup, a cup of tea, so stop me and I’ll go somewhere else, right?”
- 1:01:01 “The only time I get jealous is when my pets give my roommate more love.”
