In this week’s episode, I interview Heidi Coker who is an International Instructor and Pole Champion. We talk about how life and pole are so closely related, her beautiful teaching style, and what competing means to her.
Heidi was a gymnast for many years before finding pole. She saw Sheila Kelly on Oprah demoing Pole and instantly knew she wanted to try it. Heidi tried pole for the first time just over 10 years ago! Shortly after starting, Heidi began teaching and competing. She has gone on to compete (and WIN!) worldwide!

- 14:28 “It was this beautiful exchange of my body getting worked out, my mind getting worked out, not just because I was thinking about what I was doing on the pole, but also like, I’m pausing, I’m catching my breath and cleaning the pole and listening to something inspiring”
- 23:07 “I’ve learned over the years that I have to book in personal time”
- 26:07 “When you teach, you want to inspire people to try something a little bit different, to find their own creativity, to find their own strength”
- 44:08 “Do what feels good to you”
- 44:34 “Sometimes when you just pause and like if you’re looking away or you’re raising your eyebrows or you know those little details. Yeah, tell the story they tell of your anguish or your sorrow, your pain or your love or your joy through the subtleties of your face.”
- 46:27 “Literally when we can pause and have that inhale or the exhale about one second brings you back to now”
- 49:37 “Are you ready for more? Here we go. So, it’s important, not just to like, wow, people with the insanity, but like, did you see that? You did great. That was a lot of work. Let me tell you. Let’s all take a moment.”
- 60:51 “I get to connect with people all around the world so we get to sit down and like really have a beautiful conversation”
- 65:00 “maybe try doing it part time to try maybe teaching on the weekends or teaching and other areas where you still had the stability of your other incomes”
- 72:18 “And it’s not about fearless as having no fear. It’s fearing… less.”
